You can always add additional check box to enable/disable whatever you like (or not). Wireguard app for Android expects IP and (optionally) DNS. It would be nice if default config generated by luci-app-wireguard would respect users expectations.
All configs expect IP. But that question has not even been asked yet:
Where did the IP come from in the other poster's example?
You're asking the OpenWrt to guess an interface IP to.ise as well
I'm sorry for hurting sensitive nature of yours. From my part I would expect someone to test things before telling that they are working. No, they were not working and you did lie. That explains my behavior.
Depends what you mean by that. IP range or client IP...
Actually, I was asking you to stop breaking the rules in your postings.
I don't like men talking to me about a phallus. Maybe you and other men do - not my taste but I respect your rights.
Wasn't helpful to the request - You do understand a problem has to be identified, correct?
At this point I have no steps where a UCI Wireguard should exist for an "expectation" of getting a complete config with IP and DNS.
Never even talked to you about that. It's just a saying from where I come from. I'm sorry that you are not familiar with that. If any further information you might need on sayings, common phrases - I would be glad of providing some help.
Sure, OpenWrt discussions are common here:
Help on this would be much appreciated.
No worries. I wasn't raised to to make vulgar jokes - and didn't really hang around a lot of sailors (known here in the US to make vulgar jokes - that's all it means).
I think someone (i.e. developers) just needs to load my config and try to generate QR code... then, next step, load it to Wireguard app. I could be of little help in providing any further details. All details are one the table from very beginning of this conversation.
Your config is in UCI - that's the issue.
The QR Generator was never made to take a saved code and generate a config. So again, clearly stating the issue would help.
It was actually designed to prevent the issue of users that were doing that.
And that is why you flagged comments about "respect is to be earned" - such a vulgar joke indeed!
Can you please refrain from jokes, I honestly don't get them and it's causing confusion. A few times I thought your comments were relevant to the discussion then you added an rofl emoji. It's really hard to follow the discussion. So if you're trying to highlight something about the QR Code issue - I don't understand and it wasted 2 posts.
Why would it be an issue in its reproduction? This is exactly how OpenWRT's manual gives its configuration instructions - uci commands.
I thought jokes were made to cross cultural differences...
The QR Generator is just a generator - I made a previous post about this already:
This is why I also asked you to confirm the steps and use case - as to fully understand what issue you're having and trying to resolve. I understand yo just want a QR Code to work on the Wireguard app - I'm also trying to understand how you got to the steps you're showing UCI.
I still don't understand what this WireGuard QR code generation in the Luci app is intended for from your perspective if it's not there to configure mobile clients. All other WireGuard implementations I use are generating QR codes exactly for that reason. Could you please explain that to me? I'm honestly interested in understanding what you want to tell us.
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/vpn/wireguard/server - I often wonder if anyone tests software even on simplest configurations from software manual?
Don't start it again. I already tried. It reminds me of schizophrenia. In one statement they (they were two in the beginning) say it was made to be used in phone app, but in another the guy says "we are not affiliated with official client in any way" and have no idea what you are asking for.
And then "do you really want me to set up things I never tried since 2019?"
A whole discussion on the issue that originally occurred and that was solved has been posted numerous times now.
Tell me about it - I'll post again:
- Here: Luci-app-wireguard + QR generation - #2 by lleachii
- And Here: Luci-app-wireguard + QR generation - #179 by lleachii
Just because you ignored it in Post No. 2 - doesn't mean I didn't post it.
I understand you want some other functionality - I understand you think it's "known" "normal" and "expected" - but this is a community and just saying "fix it - its normal"does not offer any information to help with your issue.
I ask that you at least both take the opportunity to review the past thread to understand what the developers have arrived to today - and pass discussion just like yours today.
EDIT:
The post literally starts off saying: "In the past weeks since the QR Code function of luci-app-wireguard was added, I've seen different interpretations of what the QR function should be used for." You're just one of those interpretations
No, my darling! I want very BASIC functionality and compatibility with the official Wireguard client software for Android. Just like I stated in my original question. I believe this is what 99 percent would expect. No need to explain me that other scenarios exist. Yes, there are three of them. Just like I already said.
- I guess you again didn't review the thread
- Since you refuse, I guess I can't help
- Since those who actually participated originally got what they desired, and (in 2023) you don't wish to participate - but say there's some issue, oh well
Maybe if you bothered to review, you woulda saw:
So, if you don't wanna assist, that's cool.
