I know about it. I checked the link now i will try Gobi 3000 maybe it will work.or it will be easier
In response to a request for Sierra Wireless specifics on another thread, they are covered at
https://www.sierrawireless.com/products-and-solutions/embedded-solutions/networking-modules/
Difficult to make a specific recommendation, as it will depend on the band(s) available at the desired location and with the desired provider, as well as the form factor. Both M.2 and miniPCIe adapters are available in eBay for under US$20, quality unknown.
I have had discussions on another forum where an experienced user both highly recommended the Sierra Wireless modules (and OpenWRT, to take advantage of QMI-based drivers) as well as avoiding the Dell-branded units, due to the complexities and uncertainties in re-flashing them to "vanilla" Sierra Wireless units.
Watch out with the Huawei in Hilink-mode (âhâ) models, rather than Stick-mode (âsâ) models. Only the Stick-mode units expose the interface directly; the Hilink models have internal NAT
I had sierra MC7700 AND sIERRA mc8780 but both didnt work.
my band is 3G Bands: W-CDMA 2100
So which one you recommend
I'd recommend you consult your carrier, determine what bands you actually have coverage for (your phone's "service mode" may help), then look at the Sierra Wireless technical information, and make a choice.
i am sure they are using B1 Frequency 2100 HSPA+
https://www.sierrawireless.com/products-and-solutions/embedded-solutions/products/em7355/ this will work.
IT is hard to do it on a tplink? or just install it and use qmi protocol?
Steven
You have started at least five threads on this general topic in the last month. If you're not having success with the myriad of cards it seems that you've tried, you might want to find a forum or two that deal with the wireless cards themselves, as you've likely exhausted the information that is available here.
From what I can tell, you've already tried at least:
- MC7700
- MC8780
- Gobi 3000 (MC8355 in Lenovo channel)
- Gobi 2000
- broodMobi BM806U-E1
- Unknown device in MR6400 Openwrt Sim ready and registered but not connected
- Unknown device in [SOLVED] Tplink mr6400 - 3g/4g sim interface
I will try of new sim cards also.
I really really recommend connecting the modem to a desktop or laptop PC running Linux first. Use a USB adapter if necessary. Make sure the modem can actually get on the Internet with your SIM and plan, and your antennas and location have a usable link to a tower.
Examine the logs to see which drivers are used. You can consult numerous resources to troubleshoot on "big Linux."
Then you have some direction toward making it work on OpenWrt.
I found something interesting.
After working hard, i got the bellow info:
Check the bellow
root@OpenWrt:~# lsusb

Here we can see that the open wrt is reading my Sierra but the driver is none

root@OpenWrt:~# usbmode -l
Found device: 1199:9013 (Manufacturer: "Sierra Wireless Inc", Product: "Sierra Wireless MC8355 - Gobi 3000(TM) Module", Serial: "")
Now is how i can download the driver i think i made a huge offer to reach here. What do you suggest to do?
A question why i am receiving "satisfy_dependencies_for: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for" when installing some packages?
@bmork @mk24 @jeff
First off, @mk24 has given you the path forward using a "full" Linux distro and its tools. I would recommend following his advice. It is very sound.
If you're looking for QMI-driver support, look at (from the proper kernel branch)
Find 1199:9013, if its not there, then you'll have to find a driver that supports the card on Linux, or see if the "serial" driver supports it.
Though outdated, see also
https://mycusthelp.net/SIERRAWIRELESS/_cs/AnswerPreview.aspx?sSessionID=662497527OTGJJMXDPRTNQLUVOHYSONMHIZTGSHN&inc=5
This device is old enough to have been supported from the very beginning of that driver. Just install kmod-usb-net-qmi-wwan and kmod-usb-serial-qualcomm to get the driver support. You'll probably want uqmi and other userspace tools too, but this is much better explained in the assorted wiki howtos than I'm able to do on the fly. So go look there.
Hi, bmork.
I have SIM7100 and SIM7600 modules. Both have the same VID:PID, but different chipsets (mdm9x15 and mdm9x07). For the SIM7600 module, we need to set the "QUIRK" flag in the qmi_wwan.c. And then both modules will work.
This is only possible if we can find some way to detect which module is which from the driver probe. That means that we have to see the difference based on the USB descriptors. Having both modules is a good start! Can you please provide full USB descriptor listings for both? "lsusb -v" will do fine.
Do you know if the set of funtions provided by these modems are configurable? For example, enabling/disabling NMEA or QCDM or similar? That might complicate things, as parts of the descriptors will change.
The task is to figure out a static signature which can be use to tell them apart, limited by the information the driver has access to at probe time (which isn't a lot).
I recall seeing a Linux mailing list post about potential driver patches for the SIM7100 vs. SIM7600 some time ago. As I remember, the descriptors are the same for both devices and some "hack" would be required to tell the difference.
Thanks for the pointer. I quickly looked at it, and there is at least the AT+CUSBDELETEADB which is used to disable/enable the adb and mass storage functions. This means that the number of interfaces is variable, so we cannot use that for simple detection.. Not directly at at least.
We can hope the full descriptor dumps will show some significant and stable difference. That would be nice. But it is a lot to hope for considering that they didn't even bother to use unique device IDs....

What the problem replace
{QMI_FIXED_INTF(0x1e0e, 0x9001, 5)},
to
{QMI_QUIRK_SET_DTR(0x1e0e, 0x9001, 5)},
? For SIM7100 I don't have problem with this replacement.
SIM7600E-H don't work with standart uqmi, because it have only raw-ip mode, that don't defined correctly by uqmi (we talk with you about this). And version of dms service is only 1.0, to get the USIM status, version 1.1 is required.
I think that uqmi using dms
#: uqmi -d /dev/cdc-wdm0 --get-pin-status
"Not supported"
And this request should use the uim-service for SIM7600E-H
Thanks a lot! As expected, there isn't much to work with here. But it's not entirely hopless either. I see 3 differences:
-
Different device versions:
SIM7100E: bcdDevice 2.32
SIM7600E-H: bcdDevice 3.18 -
Different device flags: SIM7600E-H supports remote wakeup. SIM7100E does not.
-
The SIM7600E-H ADB interface has a string descriptor and the endpoint order is switched compared to the SIM7100E
Number 3 is useless as we know the ADB function can be disabled. And the differences are pretty arbitrarry anyway, so they could change with any firmware upgrade.
Number 2 is somewhat promising. It can still be the result of a specific configuration setting or firmware version, and it would be good to get similar data from the 7230E too (which apparently also shares this device ID). But this is a candidate. I'll try to contact Sebastian who provided the initial info on the 7230E vs 7600E conflict.
Number 1 is also a candidate. I assume it is related to the firmware version, and that it might/will change with firmware upgrades. But since the firmware must be hardware specific, there is a good chance that the hardware version is somehow coded into this version number. The only problem is guessing exactly how. Are these numbers something you see elsewhere in firmware versions? Like in the ATI output? Do you happen to know any other valid firmware version numbers for these modems? If we're lukcy, then there is a simple system here, like "SIM7600E if version > 3.0". Guessing that on only one sample value is a bit presumptuous, though...
So if anyone else have any of these modems, or any other SIMCOM modem using the same device ID (or any other ID, really), then please provide "lsusb -v" outputs from them. The more data we have, the better we can make this test.
But I am prepared to try based on your sample only. I will contact Sebastian first. And then prepare something which can be tested. The downside is a high risk of breaking existing working configurations (7100E and the like),but that is a risk SIMCOM customers has to live with. There can never be a guarantee against future breakage the way they reuse device IDs. Future hardware or firmware realeases might require specific driver modifications which are incompatible with some of the other devices using the same ID.
Anyway, experience shows that the most reliable way to provoke more test data is to simply try out experimental patches in mainline Linux
I'm find SIM7230E sample

Very interesting.
These values do not change from modem to modem. I use it in hotplug/udev scripts. And SIM7100E always 232, I don't have so much SIM7600E-H yet, but think that it always have 318 value.
Perhaps the versions for other regions have different values.
