Hello, I was wondering if someone here can help me make a openwrt luci firmware for this device. Although router is powerful, i cannot install other packages perhaps due to their firmware. I tried installing SQM but it kept giving me an error. I reached out to the company support and i was asked to wait for future firmware updates since product is still new but it has been months. I wonder how difficult would it be to make a luci firmware since it has a MT7988AV chipset and it has 1x 10G WAN Port, 1x LAN Port and 4x 1G LAN Ports and Wifi 7 support. I thought the Velo 7 Max would be luci firmware friendly compare to the Glinet Flint 2/3 but it isn't since its just a basic luci firmware.

If this question isnt allowed, please take it down.

I dont think any of the buttons are working (reset, wps and restart), with the exception of lan ports 1-4. I believe it got bricked or something. I guess I'll have to tear it down when I have time.

You may need to enter failsafe mode and perform a factory reset. The device I had been given access to had a configuration compatible with mainline OpenWrt, so this wasn't necessary. See failsafe mode instructions, and report the exact activity of all LEDs from the moment you connect the device to power in case you don't succeed.

Unfortunately mine was bricked also. The LEDs do weird stuff and I'm afraid I am not able to enter failsafe mode.....

I tried going into failed mode but unit seems bricked. I have solid green lights and, by the looks of it, the buttons (WPS, Reset and Restart) don't work at all.

Thank you for the update. I contacted LTC as I bought this from Amazon. I hope they help and I'll share how to unbrick if do-able...

I ran into the same issue and recovered through UART. Sharing this so others can avoid it.

The `sysupgrade -R` command in the [installation instructions](https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/24513) runs the OEM upgrade script, which writes the inactive slot. On my unit, that was `kernel2/rootfs2`.

U-Boot correctly loaded `kernel2` and passed `ubi.rootfs_volume=rootfs2`, but Linux mounted `rootfs` instead:

```plaintext
ubiblock: device ubiblock0_2 (rootfs) set to be root filesystem
kmodloader: no module folders for kernel version 6.18.44 found
```

So the new kernel was running with the old OEM rootfs, leaving the router without normal network access.

OpenWrt’s `mtk_dual_boot_flash_both_slots()` helper writes both slots, but it does **not** run during the initial OEM flash. That is why the starting slot matters, and why a factory reset alone cannot fix this mismatch.

which basically means you'd need serial for proper flashing or need to figure out how the active slot is set and adjust it prior to flashing, if required.

@daniel don't know if you're following this thread, but what @z21100644 posted is probably important.

Thank you for sharing what's going on. I'm afraid that's way over my head except I believe UART means serial adapter and opening the unit. There appears to be no ethernet access nor WiFi broadcast. And I may have voided the warranty loading this....

Did you need to solder the connection of the serial adapter? (I'm not fond of/good at soldering, nor do I have the adapter). I'm hopeful they have an option to help me repair it. Not sure how cost effective though because I believe shipping is also my responsibility. Waiting for a response they usually respond in the middle of the night because they are in China....

No soldering was needed. The UART is just exposed as **three bare pads** , and I simply held pin probes against them.

You only need **RX, GND and TX** ; don’t connect power from the serial adapter.
