Hi there,
I just installed 2 Asus ax53U I think. Installing went perfect.
Now after round about 2 Weeks, but I do not know when exactly it happened, I lost my IPv4.
I cannot acces the router any more. Wifi is "working" I have some ssid
But I have no cable to the device, and I managed to gget connected with a RaspberryPi. The sad thing is I get NO ipv4, but a ipv6.
Now how can I get access again to the box? I managed it to get a ping to one of the router. trying with ping -6 -b ff02:2 I got the second half of the 128bit, and by ifconfig I got the first part. so I could ping through ipv6. Don't remeber if I could ping fd71:..... or fe80:....
But even if ping works ssh did not.
how can I use maybe nmap to find if the device is really on? or can I do something?
My raspberryPi is a limited device, means have no GUI. And is based on arclinux (pikvm.org). Maybe other possibility could be through port forward with ssh, but I have only a ipv4 access but the one device has only ipv6. So how port forward through a 4to6 tunnel?
Please help.
Thanks
EDIT: I think I have installed 23.05.5 so about one month ago.
Opening a terminal session via ipv6 is going to be a "thing" sooner or later as ipv6 slowly becomes more commonplace.
The following link gives a "howto" for both Linux and Windows workstations. It is written in the context of a mesh network but is applicable on any router. Might be useful. Opening a terminal session via ipv6
Yes.
I forgot to mention, that I have no physical access to that devices. And there is only one device left in the network which has wired and wifi connection.
OK. I have no access because I am far away. And only returning after .... days. (Not important.
Without forwarding I see no possibilities. That is why I asked if there is a possibility through ssh to port forward ipv4 to ipv6. Then I can browse maybe somehow. But even browsing, even ssh does not work on port22.
Is that important? It does not respond to any ip, or broadcast with ipv4.
And the device gets an What is it called ULA? with fd71: which is what I changed it to.
Yes, but without physical acces to them? I see no chance.
I wouldn't have asked here, if I would have had physical acces. Then I would have used the OpenWrt (don't know exactly the name of it the press button method) recovery mode.
I wanted to say that it is a for me new device and it is OPENWRT newly and freshly installed. I also have Trouble with another older device, which still has v19 installed. But this I didn't mentioned here.
Yes it is my own set SSID it seems to work, but it is not giving ipv4 adresses. only ipv6 with the mentioned fd71:.....
And it has no connection to my main router.
NEW information I gained acces to one of the 2 Asus devices.
HOW? My 80Y old parents help with the one device, which is in their home. I had the idea to plug a cable from a networkprinter into the one Asus, and I gained access. That took nearly 1simple Hour. I configured Travlemate again, now it is ok. But I do not know, why the networkssids were disabled. Now I enabled them and it is working again.
Now I need acces to the other Asus and the older openwrt_v19 device.
Any Idea how??
because the Asus let's call him Asus2 has 2 radios, I can use the second radio to connect to the other devices.
Because I have only 1 try, how should I do that? Any proposals?
Reason for last said: Trying to connect via an other raspberry also with raspiAP installed and 2 radios +eth bricked the device for now and I have no access for the next time. Maybe if the rest works, I hopefully can connect also to the raspi3b and repair or reboot.
Wow, with link I learned something. I have seen the % between ipv6 and the devicename, but I havent used it. I tried something like -I in the ping command. I think it was -b or -B in the ssh command I don't remember anymore, and it didn't worked for me.
Really great. Thank you for this.
I told that already only with a raspberrypi (pikvm.org v4) That is the only device which has internet and separate additional wifi (I had another one with debian, but that is not working anymore. Lost Network.Do not know why) Ich have only ssh access. Other computers are only in my network with only one connection. (wired but no wifi)
Yes I am doing that. But I wanted to try from remote in local network with a browser. Better said I tried it but did not work.
I am getting ipv4 from a dhcp server. for WAN But I found out on that Asus2 the WLAN was probably disconnected and I "lost" connection. I had an private C-Class IP like 192.168.0.55 for example.
it was something like fdea:... and I changed it to fd71:... I am on the uniforming. to give save ipv4 and ipv6 ULA so I can remember them easyly example 192.168.71.0 fd71:... the rest I did not change yet but I will shorten them from fd71:eaea:45ff: to fd71:: now I wasn't sure yet if that works. I changed it in interface setting for the bridge lan interface the third page.
Yes but they do not know nothing more. A Computer is the Devil with Hell together for them. TV on off and choose from 1 to 10. No reading no understanding anything. Only that stupid cable to take out put it into the Asus2 and put it back was only 1Hour. So I cannot rely really on them.
The one is working. But I need to get access also to the other one. (s)
So that is why I ask how to get connected to the first asus.
What I would do.
?Make another interface
make another firewall zone
make another wifi connection to that device. and all this in this completely separated from the working main network so I can maybe browse that device with ports forwarded. Or control via ssh the device. maybe a reboot is enough. I do not know. I need first to ssh and lookup the config.
What do you mean with that? English is not my Main language. I know I am not so perfect. I hope I write well enough. Sometimes I am missing words so sorry for that. Cannot change that.
before resetting the machine I need to have access. That is my main goal.
You somehow lost remote access (which you either won't describe or we have a language barrier preventing you from answering). And we're not supposed to figure out how to instruct your 80 y/o parents (who believes technology is evil), but instead guess how to restore access to devices you last changed IPs to something uncertain - with no backup configurations.
Cool!
