Lost internet following ISP router change

Hello good people,

I've been running a Archer C7 TP-Link AC1750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router v5.0 with DD-WRT which I bought pre-configured in November 2020, and it has operated extremely well since then.

I recently changed ISP however, from NowTV (a low cost subsidiary of Sky) to Vodafone (fiber) Broadband. The original ISP router had an address of 192.168.0.1 with a local IP for the VPN router of 192.168.17.1. The link between the IPS router and VPN router appears to have been broken with the introduction of the Vodafone device unfortunately, which has an address of 192.168.1.1.

I've looked through all of the Ethernet connected devices listed in the new ISP router dashboard and haven't found anything that looks like the VPN router, although the Wi-Fi is still working with the latter, albeit without an internet connection.

I have tried connecting the VPN router to my PC directly with an Ethernet cable, and I can get into the dashboard, where its address is still given as 192.168.17.1.

I had changed my VPN subscription a short while ago, and know that I will need to reconfigure those settings for the new provider, although I'm fairly sure that's unlikely to be the cause of the total loss of internet: or is it?

In any event, I am hopeful that you good people will be able to guide me on how to reconnect the ISP and VPN routers so that the latter can connect to the internet again.

The old ISP router was a NowTv Hub One, and the new one is a Vodafone A400A6.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer.

with apologies for my very basic network management skills..

You have to change OpenWrt's default LAN IP to not conflict there.

Is your router running DD-WRT?

Yes this is the OpenWrt forum, which has nothing to do with dd-wrt. You can install OpenWrt on the Archer C7v5, however there will be the same problem that the OpenWrt default LAN address range is also 192.168.1.X, which overlaps the WAN addresses from the new ISP box. That will prevent routing to the Internet-- you must reconfigure one of the boxes to use a different range.

The Archer C7 does not have a very powerful CPU. If your new service is 200 Mb or higher it will have trouble keeping up.
