Looking for users with specific Sophos x86-based routers!

Apologies for the delay, I was struggling with finding the time for testing of the revision 3 8-port device and in the end I decided to drop it from the PR for now: https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/15224 .

To facilitate the merge of the PR, I'm now asking if the contributors to this thread/PR could help test the update. I've published the 23.05.3 images with the fixes (and a version bump in base-files IPK to 1555) here: https://dev.melmac.net/sophos/

I wonder if you could burn images to the USB drive and boot from it and test the ethernet port naming matching the case markings and basic operations of ports. If you can, please post the models you've tested and what did you test, it will be hugely appreciated!

I finally* have, and unfortunately I have to give negative feedback: With your image (I chose the squashfs-combined-efi flavour) the ethernet ports on my XG86w do not come up, even the LED indicators stay dark despite connected devices. dmesg here, for comparison dmesg of a successful bringup here (snapshot r26207-ce4da3cf41 as of today).

*) It is my main router at the moment and a bit of a headache to pull out of active duty. Sorry.

Thanks for testing, I appreciate you capturing dmesg as well on both failed and successful boot.

Looks like an issue with ixgbe, I'll try to include kmod-ixgbe in the next build/attempt to see if it helps.

just saw that your pull request is still in review

we are phasing our our sophos routers in the company i work for so i have SG 115w rev3 and some other Sophos routers to play with.

would love to helb enable them to give them a second life...

Thank you, I believe I've collected all the information I needed, but there were definitely issues with renaming devices with ixgbe drivers. I'll need to try to rebuild image for testing and finding myself short on time for that.
