Looking for router for multiple SSID and VPN

Hi, I'm looking for a router with good openwrt support. It should support multiple SSID, I'm planning to have one SSID routing to a wireguard/openvpn VPN and then another without VPN.

  • Don't really care about ethernet, mostly use wifi
  • Internet speed is about 100Mbps upload/download
  • Don't really care about USB ports, mostly using this for VPN
  • For 3 family members
  • Max spend around 150USD (I am in UK), ideally less though

I was thinking of getting the TP-Link Archer AX23. I'd assign an SSID to each band, one to VPN and one to without VPN. Not fully sure if it supports multiple SSID though. Looking for suggestions if there's anything better suited. This router is 60 pounds on amazon right now.

I wouldn't get the AX23, due to small flash size.

WAX206 perhaps ?

WAX206 looks good, considering my internet isn't that fast WAX202 might be okay too, unless I'm missing something

Different SoC, keep in mind the VPN will require CPU cycles too.
