I looked at Asus BT8, but there seems to be some confusion on the specs. It only supports 2.5g lan AFAIK. The B10, which has 10g does not support OpenWrt.
So back to square one. I only need a router with wifi 6 or 7, but would like one with 10g in and 10g out. 5g/5g would also do it. I have a 10g SPF+ switch, to hang on it.
While the Asus BT8 is less than ideal, its better than the alternatives. Are there any other Wi-Fi routers I should check?
I don't game and live in a condo. I have a TP-Link wifi 6, that I'd like to replace with something that can run OW.
Banana Pi BPI-R4 Router board with MediaTek MT7988A (Filogic 880) quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 design ,4GB/8GB DDR4 RAM,8GB eMMC,128MB SPI-NAND flash onboard, also have 2x 10Gbe SFP, 4x Gbe network port, with USB3.2 port,M.2 support 4G/5G/NVME SSD.2x miniPCIe slots with PCIe3.0 2lane interface for Wi-Fi 7 NIC (Network Interface Card). It is a very high performance open source router development board.
The W1700K fulfil my needs. Regrettably, I am not in the US, as it seems sales are limited for now.
I am not sure I understand how much I have to tinker with it to get OW installed on it?
Never sold to customers. ISP is gone (purchased by ATT) and now has a $150 non-return fee. Sales are way beyond limited now for a discontinued device. It's borderline trolling to tell people it is available to purchase now.
Use ToH to pick the network you want. Your only other choice for chasing 5/5G or 10/10G is likely going to be x86 if you don't want the BPI-R4.
If you want something that is easy to flash/maintain, you will likely have to lower your expectations to just 2.5/2.5G.
Thx for all the replies. I'll keep an eye on the Brightspeed XR1710G. Is it sold on a Chinese webstore only? That the W1700K likely cost more than the 40-60$ MSRP.
Beside the fan and the pearl on a string funny AP, it seem to be a very capable router indeed.
Besides, I have also read some other threads. I have a TP-Link Archer 3000. The reason I wanted to change, was that I saw some TPL & other APs had been compromised. But it now appears that it was due to not updating the software on the APs&Rs. So less need to worry, as I update mine. But still. Also, as there is none with the features I want, I might as well look into APs with 5/5 and 2.5/2.5, like the B8. PoE would be nice, to reduce the cable clutter, as I live in a small condo.
Ideally, I wanted to run Pi-hole in a Container, and possibly also Home Assistant on the AP. I can see the German Frizboxes come with ZigBee radios besides WiFi, for home automation, guess? Ikea, Phillips etc.
It could also be there is some new to be released of the Asus EBA76 & 73.
