Local client connection to openwrt lan via wireguard?

Can you run Wireguard on a local client and have a Wireguard server on OpenWrt LAN?
To have a connection from/to client and OpenWRT via Wireguard.
Would this would slow things significantly?

Is this the url, how up to date is this information?

Just thinking "out loud"...

Yes, but can you define where your local client is relative to the OpenWrt WG server setup?

Are you looking to do a road warrior type setup?

Sure.... that would be a requirement for the first thin you mentioned to work.

This depends on your router (hardware), and also on your expected speeds (i.e. your internet speed tier).

should be completely valid still. But understanding how you expect to use your WG setup will help define what type of configuration you should do.

The OpenWRT device already has connection route to pfsense box.
pfsense box has route connection to internet router

Lots of good reading to do there.
Thanks.
Not quite certain what that does, as yet.

I'm NOT wanting to come in via inernet to access OpenWRT LAN.
I'm wanting inside local clients to connect to OpenWRT LAN, as normal, though, use Wireguard connection.

It sounds like you want to setup a VPN between your Windows 11 device and the router while you are on the router's same network -- is that correct?

Yes it an be done. But what would the purpose of this be in your mind? In the vast majority or circumstances, such a setup would serve no purpose whatsoever (unless you don't trust your lan -- if that's the case, you have a bigger discussion and bigger issues to tackle).

Yes, that is what I was thinking.

Hah, yeah, I didn't think it would be practicle, just wondering...
