Linksys WRT3200ACM 5GHz wifi slowdown

Hi.

I have a Linksys WRT3200ACM router.

I am using OpenWrt 18.06.4 r7808-ef686b7292 / LuCI openwrt-18.06 branch (git-19.170.32094-4d6d8bc)

For some reason my 5 channel has slowed to around 80MB for all speed tests I run.

I setup the router again from scratch after a reset and I'm having the same issue.

I don't want to pay Linksys $30 to diagnose my issues and them just tell me to buy a new router.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Don

I doubt Linksys is going to diagnose any router after you installed OpenWrt on it, so you can save your 30$.

Post your "/etc/config/wreless" file (hide the sensitive data) here, please.

Is there any interference from other networks in the area?

I completely understand what donaldnaegele is talking about - I run a Linksys WRT1900AVC V2 with OpenWrt 18.06.4 r7808-ef686b7292 / LuCI openwrt-18.06 branch (git-19.302.19547-50788da) - It uses the default install with no extra packages. As of the resent last two updates from running opkg update - My wireless 5ghz signal speeds have drastically decreased also. I have a 400 MB down and 20 MB up internet - Before the updates i would on average pull between 270 MB to 340MB down and a constant 21.5 UP on the 5ghz wireless signal. Now I'm pulling 70 MB to 110 MB down with 21.5 UP for first three or four speed test using google fiber speed test site - Eventually I might get a burst of up to 182 MB down and 21.5 UP. I thought it was just me and glad to see that somone else has mentioned it aslo. By the way i have tried all testing with Software based offloading for routing/NAT (Under Firewall settings) both on and off, neither makes a difference.

It might be valuable to get a list of your current packages with

opkg list-installed

and, if you're willing, go back to 18.06.4 and not update any packages (in general, not recommended to upgrade packages anyways)

Then check your speeds. If you get faster speeds, then the differences in that list can help narrow down what might be the cause.

It would be interesting to know the exact version of the "kmod-mwlwifi" packages that each update process installed, because that would point to the specific commit that introduced the issue, and it will be much easier to fix the issue.
