Linksys EA7500 v2

Hello

I'm trying to install OpenWRT on a Linksys EA7500 v2 router.
Following the instructions I tried installing on both partitions. However the router keeps on returning to the Linksys-firmware. The OpenWRT firmware won't start.

Underneath is the output of the serial port. What is going wrong and is there a way to resolve this issue?

Thanks for the reply. I tried to install from both partitions. In both cases OpenWRT fails to boot. (kernel panic).

I really hope that someone can point me in the right direction.

Turns out there is a bug in MTD-driver (https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/issues/12895)

The router boots fine when commenting out the partition check and compiling an alternative firmware.

How to commenting out the partition check and which step?

I have EA7500v2 and sibling EA8100 but install via stockfirmware. May need to install via serial in the future(and need to commenting out the partition check)..

The bug is related to the way OpenWRT handles bad sectors in the memory chip.
If the stock firmware works on your devices, then there is nothing to worry about. Should you at any point in the future start having problems booting OpenWRT, you can try the "altered" firmware. You create the alternate firmware by compiling your own version of OpenWRT. Instructions on compiling OpenWRT can be found at https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-developer/toolchain/use-buildsystem.
