LEDE or OpenWrt?

Hi all.
I have been using OpenWrt for a custom build for some time. Just stumbled across the LEDE project.

  • Can someone summarise the differences between LEDE & OpenWrt?
  • Any particular advantages of one project over the other?
  • I'm mostly using packages like procd, ubus, uci, netifd, dnsmasq, odhcp6c, odhcpd, etc. Will development of these packages remain in sync between the 2 projects, or will they diverge?

different developers. At this point they have not diverged too much, so you
should think of them as branches of one development tree.

Neither project has made a release since the LEDE developers left OpenWRT. It
seems like LEDE is more actively developed

Most of those packages are maintained upstream from both LEDE and OpenWRT. As
sich, they will not diverge much, if at all. The LEDE developers have been
working to upstream patches. In theory that will make the differences less
likely to grow.

Until the two projects start making releases, we aren't really going to know how
much they differ.
