@neheb
Same for me, initial setup for sure and sometimes when I add other new user on my LAN...
I'm getting that error, without any ELF (or other) error.
ksmbd-server and ksmbd-utils v3.4.5-3

(Note that I uninstalled and reinstalled [no errors] the mod via opkg cmdline, I made a local compile/version.)
Any tip?

Noted eventual missing dependencies unlinked, recompiled kernel with kmod-mdio-netlink & mdio-tools, same result.
Lost in the alley.

@neheb I see that server goes on latest snapshot on version 3.4.7... ksmbd-tools?
Thanks for mantain it... seems that the original maintainer is gone right?
Having installed OpenWrt on my KD20 NAS, these errors in the system log leave me perplexed ...

Why is the server being killed?
What's up with the "unknown interface"?
Any thoughts / ideas / suggestions on how to diagnose and proceed? This is new territory for me ...
Thanks.
Ok, looks like I should move on to Samba.
error is unknown interface.
Left ksmbd behind - installed samba - it 'just works'!
Having issue with "force create/directory mode". Seems that there is always base umask 0022, even when force_root in ksmbd.

My use case is storage for an Apple Timemachine Vault. To date, I have been using samba4-server
but happened across this thread. Has anyone successfully used ksmbd
as a Timemachine vault? The above was written 3 years ago. Has that changed?
AFAIK not yet.
Hello.
I switched from samba4-server
to ksmbd
to save space.
File access works fine (6 guest-only shares), but I get 600+ log lines like these:

They seem to come in triplets, every 30 seconds.
What does this message mean? can it be safely ignored?
Thanks in advance

It happens when you access - transfer or something else?
When you get the message... Which device is working (Operating system)?
Thanks
It happens all the time, idle or not. Transfers don't seem to affect it.
Clients are various Win11 desktops and laptops.
Thanks.
BTW, now it seems like it's every 40 seconds, rather than 30:

The error message "ksmbd: cli req too short" is related to Microsoft OneNote and there is a really big problem connected to it. When the OneNote notebook is stored on the ksmbd share it does not sync properly anymore as soon as you add a new chapter or tab. So basically OneNote is not useable anymore.
The Github thread was closed since the kernel 6.1 solves the problem.https://github.com/cifsd-team/ksmbd/issues/594
However, all users on 5.15 are still having this issue. Since this kernel is the current stable the issue will stay for quite some time. If somebody knows a bypass to this problem it will really be beneficial.
I am trying to connect Satellite Receiver to recording a network disk (Flash Drive in USB) on Openwrt 23.05. But there is no connection. On OpenwRT 22.03 it works, but does not work on 23.05. KSMBD at OpenwRT 23.05 no longer supports the old version of the protocol? In Windows and Android on OpenWrt 23.05, everything works fine, I have access to the folder.
