Kmod-wireguard repo not available on aw1000

Hi there so couple of days into testing with the aw1000 https://openwrt.org/toh/arcadyan/astoria/aw1000, and i'm getting this when trying to install the kmod-wireguard package

Any advice for kmod-wireguard on ARMv8 Processor rev 4, architecture? Any way to add the repo for this package ? Or is it not in there because it is incompatible with the aw1000's architecture? I'm on 23.05 , should i upgrade fw first ?

I would upgrade first then try:

LuCi > System > Software: click Update Lists
Install: luci-proto-wireguard, wireguard-tools and wg-installer-client.

Aw1000 wasn't available back in 23.05, you're most likely using a 3rd party image.

thanks for the info, yes that is correct, the one the seller provided. this is the gdrive link to the file he used https://drive.google.com/file/d/16VzhYnrjTtoqGsGMhx0J_pIfBlxpriwf/view ,(flashed via recovery mode, hold reset button, restart device, flash image via webui, after completion, let go of reset button)
he advises me not to use the 24.10 because it is unstable and told me it won't be able to function properly:

Then you're on you own, we don't know anything about the image they provided you with.

AFAIK the aw1000 Openwrt image works just fine, but the modem connection has to be set up from scratch, it's not preconfigured.

It appears you are using firmware that is not from the official OpenWrt project.

When using forks/offshoots/vendor-specific builds that are "based on OpenWrt", there may be many differences compared to the official versions (hosted by OpenWrt.org). Some of these customizations may fundamentally change the way that OpenWrt works. You might need help from people with specific/specialized knowledge about the firmware you are using, so it is possible that advice you get here may not be useful.

You may find that the best options are:

  1. Install an official version of OpenWrt, if your device is supported (see https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org).
  2. Ask for help from the maintainer(s) or user community of the specific firmware that you are using.
  3. Provide the source code for the firmware so that users on this forum can understand how your firmware works (OpenWrt forum users are volunteers, so somebody might look at the code if they have time and are interested in your issue).

If you believe that this specific issue is common to generic/official OpenWrt and/or the maintainers of your build have indicated as such, please feel free to clarify.

thanks that's what i've tried so far (not upgrading) without luck

Amazing thanks for the info.

Is it hard to set up the modem connection from scratch ? Any guides on this ?
How can i get the source code of the firmware file shared above?

Only if you have trouble following written instructions.

https://openwrt.org/toh/arcadyan/astoria/aw1000#modem_configuration

The one of GDrive?
Ask then people who share it with you.

So if i understand it correct, this has nothing to do with architecture ? Or does this mean the architecture of the custom firmware is not compatible with kmod-wireguard package arch ?

We can't answer [with knowledgeable information] for someone else's firmware.

gotcha

You won't be able to install any kmod from vanilla Openwrt on a 3rd party firmware, especially when the device support didn't exist here, on the release they used.

Sweet, thanks for giving me this insight. Kmod means kernelmod ? and different kernels don't match type of situation ?
