I wanted to change the OS on my KingnovyPC Upgrade Firewall Micro Appliance and the manufacturer stated it can run OpenWRT, unfortunately I can not find which Image to download. Does anyone have experience with these mini computers to get me started... Please

Grab the regular x86_64 image. Might need to add the I225 driver though.

Modern hardware has an EFI BIOS, so use the EFI image unless you want to (and can) go into the BIOS to enable legacy booting. Then there is a choice of squashfs or ext4, I recommend the squashfs for beginners.

You can run OpenWrt from a USB flash drive after setting the BIOS to boot from USB. If the primary internal drive is not removable, boot OpenWrt or any live Linux on a flash drive and use it to write another copy of OpenWrt to the internal drive. OpenWrt does not have an "installer" program.

Thank you  I will give it a go.

Thank you so much for the information.
Being able to boot from a USB could prove to be helpful if something goes wrong. :slightly_smiling_face:
