Do original openwrt firmware (from which you start sysupgrade) have the same flash layout?

If you used upgrade was it already running OpenWRT? EDIT: I see from the first command line that you did - what was it?

Maybe try a factory image.

Do you have serial logs of what was there before booting?

mtd write kernel and rootfs. This method also works well with OpenWRT now.

Sure the same.

Something wrong with sysupgrade image. Pls, show files and its types of sysupgrade image (usually it's simple tar archive with kernel.bin, squashfs.bin and contol file).

in case you haven't spotted it the first lines that differ are:

UBI: auto-attach mtd15
ubi0: attaching mtd15

vs:
UBI error: no valid UBI magic found inside mtd15

I have no idea how to address that :slight_smile:, but there are other threads with the same error message in them.

It is.

Something wrong with sysupgrade scripts. At least because no error message while upgrading.

this my friend appears to be a considerable error message (edit: ok rereading this appears to be spat out after reset apologies) ... and yes, i'd agree its in the sysupgrade write logic/process (but your layout could be an influencing factor here - if everything is 100% normal / as expected... then compare images(size?) / upgrade logic for any changes, if not that then go back to ubi stuff maybe)

ok. That's what i meant. There is no critical error for sysupgrade. What to do?

if its master... maybe best to checkout some older commit or look at that ubi search suggested to see if there is a noticable date occurence...

yep. you've asked for sysupgrade bin

I don't think so. If I'm not mistaken your sysupgrade image contain ubinized rootfs file.
Modify image build script (in mt761.mk) to use raw squashfs image for rootfs.
In this case sysupgrade script make correct ubifs in mtd15 partition itself.

What line i need to modify?

Now i got this:

   UBINIZE_OPTS := -E 5
   BLOCKSIZE := 128k
   PAGESIZE := 2048
   KERNEL := kernel-bin | append-dtb | lzma | loader-kernel | uImage none \
	| pad-to 16805860 | beeline_smartbox-flash_firmware-header
   KERNEL_INITRAMFS := kernel-bin | append-dtb | lzma | loader-kernel | uImage none
   IMAGES += kernel.bin rootfs.bin
   IMAGE/kernel.bin := append-kernel
   IMAGE/rootfs.bin := append-ubi | check-size
   IMAGE/sysupgrade.bin := sysupgrade-tar | append-metadata

This step:

   IMAGE/rootfs.bin := append-ubi | check-size

convert raw squashfs root image into raw ubinized rootfs.
Try to remove it. Or just for quick test simply replace root file in archive with squashfs root file.

The problem is sysupgrade but not rootfs image. With your proposal i just haven't got rootfs file.

This way upgrade is working well:

mtd write kernel.bin /dev/mtd6 && mtd write squashfs-rootfs.bin /dev/mtd13
