Kernel Log Archer C7

Hi,

I get this message:

conntrack: generic helper won't handle protocol 47. Please consider loading the specific helper module.

My WAN is configured by PPPoE.
Protocol 47 is GRE, and I'm not using it (I think so).

Any idea?

Thanks,

And what is the problem if you are not using GRE?

Have the same message on WR1043ND v4.
I don't know if this is a real problem.

Hi Pilot6,

Well, that's the point, if I'm not using GRE, why is alerting me about it?

Maybe is a bug (or not), that's the reason because I post the message trying to know it.

@Klingon, I moved your thread into the general network support, in hope you get more reads.

@DjiPi Thanks a lot!!

I got this error as well. I don't have a home VPN. No one was even home at 9:30. Maybe it was a port scan?
I would also like to know what caused this. I've never seen it in the logs till today.

Any one have any info?

SSH in to the router and run the following to see if there are other warnings or errors...

dmesg | grep 'warn\|err'

It's likely the same thing as discussed in this thread. See @hnyman's response.

If you want to get rid of the message, install kmod-nf-nathelper-extra from the software section.

It's used for PPTP VPN. If you don't use PPTP, then you can just ignore it and not need to bother installing the kmod package.
