Just got a wavlink ax210 PCIe NIC x1

First time:

tried RTL8XXXU for a usb adapter
RTL8814AU(learn there's a lot issues with this)

Opted for a wavlink ax210 PCIe.
First booted in to Windows Backup driver and it was functional.

However, in OpenWrt,
Even with the firmware installed via Luci

I get this:

How do I get this card to function like an access point

Intel ax210 is not capable of AP mode (apart from very limited functionality on 2.4 GHz).

Already answered by @slh, but as an AP?

Do you know of any mediatek wifi 6 pcie cards (x1)

Having hard time finding one that isn't intel ax2xx

dap-x1860, covr-x1860, wsm20, …

What's been suggested, they'll be cheaper than your wifi card anyway.

Really? Cheaper than $30.92 at checkout?

Awesome I'll definitely check them out

Open box Belkin RT1800 are < $30 on US ebay.

If you're in EU, the Zyxel T-56 (ISP branded EX5601-T1, AX6000) is 30€.

That sounds great but... I just remembered I have a Verizon G3100 "buried" in the closet collecting dusts with its exclusivity annoyance known as the e3200.

I decided to put only the router on the network as an AP and just turn off the unit's unnecessary services that would interfere with anything else on the network (e.g. DHCP, etc). I also change the IP address to reflect something easy to remember.

Best part:
Put all the devices on that and kept the WAX630 to "MA-SELF"(FYI I did verify that there would not be any congestion issues)

I simply thought it would reduce latency for the devices "I WANT" to have lower latency if an access point was a part of the OpenWrt router itself.

Note: I TEND TO BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT BUYING ELECTRONICS ON EBAY THAT'S WHERE THE KNOCKOFFS and "undisclosed and/or eminent issues" REALLY SHINE(e.g. dying fan etc). I'll stick with Amazon renewed if I need something second hand because the first company I dealt with replaced a drive that I felt had an one justifiable track record for an SSD. They doubled the capacity and replace it without question. I'd rather deal with a company that can make these type of decisions rather than the average Joe that has to take an "annoying" loss.
