Issues after installation

Hi i am new here. I installed OpenWRT
24.10.2 (r28739-d9340319c6 )on my Archer C50 V6 canadian. After install, the lights are flashing and i cannot access 192.168.1.1. it says the site took to long to answer. I also tried http://openwrt.lan and neither work. Any suggestions?

Are you connected to the router with an ethernet cable? Wifi is disabled when you install openwrt.
Can you confirm that your laptop or pc is getting an IP address in the 192.168.1.xxx range?

Yes i am connected via a ethernet cable. My IP is 192.168.4.XX

Then you're talking to the wrong device.

Please elaborate? i disconnected my pc wifi antenna but still can't access the main page.....

So, there're several ways how this went wrong.

  1. The C50 isn't the only device that's connected to your PC/NB, but there's another router who gave your PC/NB the ip address.
  2. You set up the ip address on your PC/NB by hand, not via dhcp. And used the wrong address.
  3. ...whatever else.

C50v4 lacks port isolation at boot, then you slurp wan side ip
Just re-connect LAN cable and it will reconfig. If this is the problem

  • it can work as extender
  • post in doc section to add another model to warning
  • dont connect wan port to the internet.

i didn't set up mnually an ip adress, even when disconnected from the internet i can't acess 192.168.1.1

Correct. This is why:

You need to ensure your computer receives a 192.168.1.XX IP

In the future, it's safer to wait until the official release announcement.

i had to manually set an ip adress and that worked.

Aside from the fact you shouldn't have needed to - glad you solved it.
