Dear experts,
I am in deep sh#t
After burning a new image 24.10 for GL iNet X3000 I am offline.
Facing this:
opened 01:16PM - 05 Dec 24 UTC
closed 11:56PM - 09 Dec 24 UTC
target/mediatek
bug
Self Built Image
Supported Device
release/24.10
### Describe the bug
I did a sysupgrade from 23.05.5 to 24.10.0-rc2 and lost wi… fi on the way.
After checking `/etc/config/wireless` it seems the wifi device paths have changed from `platform/18000000.wifi` to `platform/soc/18000000.wifi`, but a migration seems missing somewhere.
New `wifi-device` has been created with the new path instead of updating the paths of the existing ones.
After deleting new entries and updating the paths in the original ones, everything was back to working state.

- [X] I am reporting an issue for OpenWrt, not an unsupported fork.
Somehow my image is missing uqmi and I cannot connect to the internet.
Described in this issue, what does this mean?
New wifi-device
has been created with the new path instead of updating the paths of the existing ones.
After deleting new entries and updating the paths in the original ones, everything was back to working state.
What exactly is deleted and what is changed? The file path on files or in the /etc/config or what?
Cheers, Frood

Share internet via wifi, from your cell phone ?
Wifi > scan > join
Put the new connection in the wan firewall zone.
Problem solved.

I am also heavily wondering, why
sysupgrade -n -F /tmp/openwrt-24.10.0-rc2-mediatek-filogic-glinet_gl-x3000-squashfs-factory.bin
comes without LUCI ?!
The RC is without Luci?

Unfortunately, my image was without without qmi.
And now I have a fresh RC without Luci.
No chance to scan and join a network from my point of view.
Anyways how should I connect to a Wifi if I am facing this issue?

??????????
You say, if Wifi is lost, just join to a Wifi, problem solved.
This is not funny.
For some reason, EVERYTIME I post a question, the question is simply ignored.
please let me know if the question is not well formulated or if there are too many typos. Or if it is the wrong language?

Lost <> non functional, you get answers based on the info you provide.
RC2 comes with luci.

There was this question.
And even a more detailed one: What exactly is deleted and what is changed? The file path on files or in the /etc/config or what?

Does it really matter, at this point ?
My guess is, hw path.
Save your old config, reset, and apply it back, by hand.

Ok, I did also guess, but I didn't know.
Anyways, the problem is much bigger than expected.
Flashing via UI is nonsense, just like with the XE300 you need uBoot. Via UI it ends up in weird constellations like mentioned above.
OpenWrt 24.10 and SNAPSHOT is not flashable via GL iNet X3000 original uBoot anymore. There is an error but no details.
After decades of OpenWrt, I am back to stock. Not funny.
Further investigations and another try to post a question will follow up after Christmas.
Merry Christmas,
Frood
