Isolated Wi-Fi network

Apologies if this has already been answered but I couldn't find the answer immediately.

My use case is setting up a wi-fi network with no wan and no internet connection for the purpose of astrophotography. I intend to travel to a remote site with no internet connection but would like to connect a NUC controlling my telescope and camera to a laptop to monitor exposures etc. I will be using a raspberry pi as my router. I have set this up to test and am able to connect to the NUC when the Pi, NUC, and laptop have an ethernet connection, but when using wi-fi, the laptop and NUC are unable to connect. I am assuming this is due to a configuration problem with OpenWRT but haven't been able to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

no, this is because the devices are trying to connect/resolve to a canary domain (or similar), to determine if the wifi network have internet access.

Thanks for the answer. Is there a simple solution for my use case?

it works out of the box for me, in win11.
