last night i have installed openwrt on my re450 and i don't know much about the configurations but i think the repeater is now weaker. with the original firmware (oldest and also newest original firmware) from the manufacturer, it could repeat the wifi-signal behind 2 doors. now, with openwrt the 2 doors have to be open. only 2.4 ghz possible. 5 ghz is too weak.
is it possible that openwrt weaker than original firmware from manufacturer?
there is a reason i have changed to openwrt because of a problem written here:
i had the oldest version of the original firmware and upgraded to the newest original firmware from the manufacturer. i didn't change anything except i can't use 5ghz and 2.4 ghz wifi for 2 different access points. it will always become changed that both use router 1 (the main router, because router 2 is connected with router 1 and router 1 is connected with the modem).
You must set country code in both radios to get usable radio power, also position sntennas parallel to gain from 5ghz wifi5 beamforming.
Do a visual survey of signal, mayb€ try different wall socket if possible. 2 wooden doors are ok, but fire shields with steel plates inside are not, or thin reinforce concrete are not.
thank you. how to change the country code? i have so many different repeaters. the one my RE450 has to connect is RE190 (still has the original factory firmware).
Network/wireles/ select AP button "edit" / country code is in upper part.
What is the distance you are inching around?
Something like 20m 25yd should work, discounting thick walls 10x thickness measured at the angle if direct line, RE being close to wall by intent makes blind area at the sides right behind the wall.
