Is it possible to USB to TTL flash on ubuntu?

Linksys EA8500 (https://openwrt.org/toh/linksys/ea8500) has newer locked firmware requiring TTL flash. The product guide links to this guide (https://mrjcd.com/EA8500_DD-WRT/) that describes using a specific device on windows with device drivers specifically for windows.

I am using ubuntu and dont have any way to use windows with device drivers (this would require bare metal install and i dont have the ability to do that right now), is this possible and what USB to TTL should i buy that works on ubuntu?

They should more or less all work just fine, but e.g. CP2104 or CP2102 is well supported and cheap as well.

Thanks, i found the name you listed and it mentions linux support

Ubuntu or any desktop Linux includes drivers for all the common chips including CP2102. Simply plug in and have your terminal program open /dev/ttyUSB0.
