Is it possible to make R6700v3 and GL-B3000 (Marble) compatible?

Hi there, I'm new here and excited to see the discussions

I recently moved to a larger place so will need two devices for the wifi coverage. I have an old Netgear R6700v3 router, and I recently bought a GL.iNet GL-B3000 (Marble) router. I originally hope that I can put OpenWRT on both devices and connect them together. I can't do wired connections between the routers so I have to find wireless solutions.

But it turns out that I can't find information on whether R6700v3 is supported or not on the OpenWRT website. v2 is supported, and v1 seems not supported. Marble is quite new so I guess there aren't much support either, although it comes with OpenWRT. I bought it mainly because I like the design.

R6700v3 is DD-WRT compatible (mine is currently just stock system). I'm looking at WDS but the two routers are different chips (Broadcom vs Qualcomm). Looks like I need to set them up as repeater bridges?

In addition to a joint Wifi network,

Features nice to have: Adblock.

Features I don't need (currently): Storage, VPN, etc.

Any suggestions on how to make them work together? I still have some time to return the Marble router if it won't work out...

Thank you!

It appears to be Broadcom based, so chances are just about zero.

…not that GL-B3000 would be supported at this point either (but there is at least some hope for this one, albeit still months away).

Well R7000 is supported and it looks like it's a very similar Broadcom chip.
Anyways thanks for the reply! Let me see what I can do.

you did notice the big warning on top of the R7000 page, right ?

Oh I didn't! Actually I didn't know it is so restricted even for a 5G network... Thank you for the reminder!
