mind explaining why?
It was my assumption that trying to route between 192.16.0.1 on LAN and 192.168.0.2 on WAN would lead to issues so it would be best to try to keep it similar to reality. But I assume using class B or C private network IP would also work.

cool...
when I tested the pi4... i got a little mixed up between 'baseline' and 'benchmark'...
loosely;
route over + no nat = baseline
route over + nat + wan firewall + sqm = benchmark
I forgot to add sqm when I first ran tests... which turned out to be helpful as another reference point...
