Thanks, it worked.
@georgem83 thanks for your great work on this build! I have a few MX5500 units and I am considering installing the latest snapshot, though I want to confirm it's possible to revert back to the OEM stock firmware v1.1.5.209977 using the LUCI web interface?
It is possible to go back to OEM, but not via Luci. You should SSH into the box, see instructions here (bullet point 3):
Hello.
Thank you.
I will flash your image on the weekends and start using my MX2000 everyday.
Hi. Thanks a lot for working on this. Would it be possible to also add support for the MR5500? From what I can find online (from the DD-WRT device pages), most of the internal hardware (CPU, switch and radios) are identical to the MX5500. I've searched this thread and see that BrainSlayer has added support for both to DD-WRT, but I'd like the option to use OpenWRT if possible. Thanks again!
I don’t own the device, so I can’t test. If you have serial access, you could try booting the initramfs image for MX5500 and see where that takes you. I would then need to see the bootlogs, from both stock and openwrt, and then see what needs to be changed if anything.
BDFs probably need changes too.
Hello georgem83.
This morning I've flash your factory image and it works without any problems.
Thank you very much.
I'm ready to test a particular config/feature, if you have ideas - please ask.
With best regards, Dmitrii
I used relayd package and connected two MX55EC (MX5500 series) together wirelessly using 5ghz, I am pleasantly surprised by 4803.8Mbit/s!!
I am tempted to sacrifice one of my mx5500 units for this noble cause. However, I don't understand how you flash it. Can I tftp and put the image directly? or do I need to put the unit in some specific state?
Cheers
Download the factory.bin file.
MX4200 install method apply to this MX2000/MX5500/MX55EC (what I have).

Cheers, mate. I'll give it a go in the weekend
I've flashed two units and set up one as an AP extender. So far, it's running really really well. There is a notable performance boost. I'll post if anything funny happens.
Something else that perhaps isn't a part of this thread. Network and infrastructure in general is a bit like black magic to me. But I'll post the question anyway. I can't seem to connect directly to the APs internal IP. My LAN uses a different range, and I can't connect to them unless I wire to them directly with a static IP from my laptop. Not sure what I need to setup in OpenWRT. Any hint is much welcome.
Cheers
That's how it suppose to work?

As I said, networking and infrastructure is black magic. I grasp the concepts, but the nitty-gritty of it is scary. But again, thank you for the link, and I will give it a go. Much obliged.
Can I ask someone to reupload the software files?
Hello georgem83.
Your factory image works perfectly on my MX2000 without any issues under heavy load over the week.
The only strange thing I've noticed is dmesg showing this messages in a loop.

Hey, I'm looking for the bin files for MX2000. All of the Filebin links from above ar no longer valid. Thank you.
Hey @georgem83
Any chance for sharing MX2000 files? Filebin links are no longer valid.
Thanks in advance.
Hey dvgregor,
Any chance you can share the binaries you used?
