Unfortunately it seems like 802.11s isn’t a performant solution… - Ich will try WDS. I just thought it always cuts your bandwith in half for every new node.
I’m currently using two GL.iNet GL-MT6000 running SNAPSHOT builds (largely because of better performance with the 6.12 kernel). I’m using both the 2.4 and 5 GHz radios for:
- mesh network (using BATMAN’s bonding feature)
- primary network (aka lan)
- isolated IoT network
- isolated guest network (that I typically only enable on an ad-hoc basis)
I have an x86 PC running OpenWrt that provides all of my DNS/DHCP/firewall/etc. and has nothing to do with the BATMAN/mesh portion of my network.
While I will sometimes see some low resolution playback when trying to watch a 4k video steam for a few moments, it’s not even often enough for my family to complain ![]()
