Interface LAN unstable

Hello,

I use a box with an Intel Celeron processor J1900 and Four 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports (Intel i211).

I find that on this machine the network interfaces are not stable.
After a few hours, the router is no longer accessible, the ping does not pass over any network interfaces.

Before installing OpenWrt I had Debian and no problem with the interfaces...

Do you have an idea of the problem ?

Thank you

Does logread provide any hints?

I do not know how to find the logs after a reboot... logread gives me log after reboot.

How to see the old log ?

Easiest is to SSH in and capture it with logread -f in a terminal window.

I think it's the system that stops responding!

I launched the console ttyS0 to see the logread -f but impossible after a few hours to regain control of the system! HS ...

What are the last ten or so entries before it becomes non-responsive?

(The preformatted-text button </> will make it easier to read)

The last lines displayed in the console are :

Sun Apr 28 15:39:55 2019 daemon.err omr-tracker[6760]: ping: unknown iface yes

Sun Apr 28 15:40:44 2019 daemon.err omr-tracker[6761]: ping: unknown iface yes

So far that tells me that omr-tracker is probably misconfigured. I would definitely resolve that first.

I also am guessing you are

Since that project, at least as I read it, heavily modifies how the interfaces are handled, if that's what you're running, I would try there first.

Yes I use OpenMPTC on OpenWRT.

What I do not understand is why the system stops responding after a few hours...
The console is no longer accessible, forced to unplug the router :frowning:

It's likely one of two things:

  • The hardware is bad (doesn't sound like it)
  • OpenMPTC's active management of the network (or other features) is causing the problems

No matter how solid OpenWrt is, if you have software managing the interfaces that is buggy, there is likely nothing that this project can do to resolve it.
