OpenWRT on the re305 v4
Hello! i want to put openwrt on my tp link re305 v4 and I'm wondering if the v3 software will work for the v4?
paste re305 v4 into the looking glass search box in the upper right corner.
The thing is that im confused if its possible or not.
then it's not.
is there any plans for supporting it?
if you would have read the threads you found when you searched, you would have already known the answer to the question you just asked.
v3 stock firmware is 4.47mb bigger than v4 stock firmware.
The v4 seems to have 4mb flash, so it's unlikely to ever be supported.
<4MB fw in tplink means it has proprietary SoC and runs vxworks cloud+app only firmware.
Some of those devices (not this) have 8MB flash for uboot-based dual-boot, i.e more reliable upgrade process, but no chance due to closed SoC. See eg warning on top of page about v4 here https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer_c6_v3
EDIT: only justice you can get here is to add similar warning to 305v3 page that next revision is unworkable.
