Hi I have my openwrt router in a pc and some week ago while I was upgrading some packages and something happened and the system crashed. So now for a new installation I have some question on how to proceed.
I want to install openwrt and pihole on the same pc, and I want an easy and automated way to backup the system, preferably a full system backup (image), so I thought about proxmon. But I'm not sure if this is the right way, I prefer to install openwrt directly on the hardware, I feel I will get better performance, but if the router breaks again I will have problems with my wife (big ones).
So can I achieve my other needs without Proxmon? Is there a better way to install OpenWrt? Will I lose too much performance with proxmon?
I've read several posts about Proxmon. But I feel unsure about this way, not for technical reasons of installation, but for long term performance.
For the record, I have an Asus D1800M with 4GB of ram, I can add 4GB more if I need it. I also use the onboard LAN to connect to the internet and a dedicated HP Nc360t Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet for my network.
