Hi,
I was quite puzzled by that sencence (that I saw in post from @ghen as well), and I can confirm, after a test with another unit.
These are my updated notes for the process (since I had some trouble the first time with https://openwrt.org/toh/zyxel/wsm20:
Prerequisites [Win10]:
Download the files “initramfs-kernel.bin” and “sysupgrade.bin”
Install the tool WinSCP
(Read the instructions in https://openwrt.org/toh/zyxel/wsm20)
Steps:
- Connect PC to LAN1 of the WMS20 and type in the browser: http://192.168.212.1/
- At the first error move ethernet cable from LAN1 to WAN and press OK. Wait (10 minutes?) while it stays in “Step 2 of 3. Polling WAN Port” and move the ethernet cable from WAN to LAN1; in parallel, open another tab in the browser with http://192.168.212.1/gui/#/main/debug/firmwareupgrade
and upload the initramfs-kernel.bin file. - Wait until it is installed. Do not look at the pages in the browser
- Open WinSCP and connect to 192.168.1.1 (other default settings) and confirm
- Upload (F5) the sysupgrade file to /tmp
- Open a terminal in WinSCP and run the command: sysupgrade openwrt-23.05.0-ramips-mt7621-zyxel_wsm20-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
- Wait until the led is still white
- Connect to 192.168.1.1. Luci is there! You can close WinSCP
I hope it helps someone that is starting with OpenWRT and the WyXEL WSM20
