Install-snapshots

hello again community how are you? i hope well, i got some questions about snapshots, i have a tp-link tl-wa12o1v2,if i install a snapshot on it,and then install luci under ssh, i can upgrade to a release (sysupgrade) on luci web gui? or i have to do it on ssh by commend line?

thanks for your time.

Upgrading via sysupgrade can be done with either the CLI or the web interface (LuCI), provided that LuCI is installed.

You can also look at the AUC / attended sysupgrade tool (soon to be supplanted by the OpenWrt Upgrade Tool - OWUT) which can help with upgrades when you have packages that you have installed after flashing the firmware (in the case of snapshots, this would include LuCI; LuCI is preinstalled on all stable release builds).

thanks pal,i ask this, because i tryed to install a release version of openwrt on my device, but it bricks it 4 times...what do you mean with CLI?...at the other hand AUC is installed with luci webgui or i need to install it like luci?

What image are you trying to install? What is the exact filename?

Command Line Interface

It is a separate package to install. However, it may make sense to simply allow the device to reset to defaults by unchecking "keep settings" if you're going from a snapshot to a stable release build.

hi again,i tried to install openwrt-23.05.4-ath79-generic-tplink_tl-wa1201-v2-squashfs-factory.bin accordig to this tutorial https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wa1201_v2 i don´t know why, but every time bricks the device, when restarting after flash power led turns on...stay at least a minute, then turn on cable led when finally came up, nothing works luci wont open it stays loading, ssh don´t connect its like the device have no ip. then i have to go back to stock by tftp method. really i don`t know why.

This is the wrong file if you already have OpenWrt installed. You need to use the sysupgrade image instead, not the factory one.

no no actually i flash that one for the first time, from stock firmware.resetting stock firmware to defaults. then flashed openwrt-23.05.4-ath79-generic-tplink_tl-wa1201-v2-squashfs-factory.bin after reset bricks it. sysupgrade is used to upgrade the device that already runs openwrt. or at least i understand that.

This is very confusing and seems contrary to what you described earlier.

What was the starting point? If you had a snapshot installed, you need to use the sysupgrade image.

i have my ap tplink tlwa1201v2 on stock firmware,i restore to defaults, and flashed openwrt-23.05.4-ath79-generic-tplink_tl-wa1201-v2-squashfs-factory.bin accordig to this post https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wa1201_v2 ](https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wa1201_v2, once it restarted, power led turns on for at least 2 minutes, then system star to blink and never stops, if i try to access over web gui con 192.168.1.1 keeps loading and loading...never open...if i try to access by ssh can`t find the device. it bricks the device. the go back to stock over tftp method. that i what i did. and i ask about snapshot because maybe snapshot works.

So try snapshot and see if it works.

sorry - posted in wrong thread.
