Install on tp-link eap 245 v3?

i tried with the latest:

openwrt-ath79-generic-tplink_eap245-v3-squashfs-factory.bin

but no luck.
the web page https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/eap245_v3
has many inaccuracies. has anyone had success with this recently?

Hi tntnt. The last time I installed openwrt on my two TP-Link EAP 245v3 was following this git commit. https://git.openwrt.org/openwrt/openwrt/commit/?id=9dd4ba3d7ed56413399b1e36f810813c1dcf7473

  1. Do factory reset if you can’t access to SSH.
  2. Access SSH and then type “cliclientd stopcs” without a quote and then exit SSH
  3. Download latest OpenWRT firmware v25.12.2 from https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/ for “factory”
  4. Shorten it by renamed it for example like this. “openwrt-25.12.2-ath79-generic-tplink_eap245-v3-squashfs-factory.bin” to this “openwrt-25.12.2-eap245.bin” or whatever you like to named it. Because it worked for me from my experience.
  5. upload it to update via webgui and your EAP245v3 should reboot and then log in 192.168.1.1

NOTE: Also check your TP Link EAP 245 v3 firmware version. (at least on All recent firmware versions (latest is 2.20.0) according to git commit. I think latest firmware version should works. But I haven’t tested mine with latest firmware. I think you should be able to flashing your own eap 245 if you follow the instruction correctly.

thanks treeckcold57. i'll give this a try this week.
