Install failing at 'requested GPIO 495' BT Home Hub 5A

I've tried multiple times with the same result. Going through the installation instructions I get as far as installing the install image (lede-lantiq-xrx200-BTHOMEHUBV5A-installimage.bin) over TFTP, it gets as far as 'requested GPIO 495' then the green LEDs start flashing, it appears to reboot but the picocom terminal hangs and gives me no further feedback.
Any suggestions what might be going wrong, I've been round this a dozen times...

This is with a PL2303TA USB to TTL RS232 cable and a Debian 11 host. I thing GPIO 495 is an LED. I've tried a few power supplies with no luck.

fwiw, check the install image is not corrupt, and use a different PC to perform the TFTP transfer to see if it helps.

Otherwise, the hub may be faulty?

I think you might be right about a hardware issue with the hub. I've tried v1.0 and v0.1 of the install image from mkresin's GitHub (I assume these are still the way to go?),downloaded m two different host machines, different Linux OSs, different USB ports - same issue, at the same line, same behaviour, every time.
The hub works fine with the BT firmware so it's not bricked.
I have bought another HH5a online, I'll leave this open until I see whether that one flashes without issue.

fwiw, BT stopped supplying original Home Hub 5A six years ago. Plusnet Hub One is better option as the last ones were only discontinued 18 months ago.

I have, yes. I've skimmed many of the configuration options etc but I feel I read quite widely around the installation before I began - which made it all the more frustrating when I couldn't get past the same point each time.
I've got another HH5a in the post, as well as a Plusnet Hub One . At ~£2 plus postage it seemed rude not to. I should have time to get stuck in if they've arrived by the weekend and that will at least eliminate a hardware issue with the hub itself. I'll report back.

Urgh.
It turns out the problem here was very basic, I had made my ground connection to the lowest usb pin, not the correct mounting pin.
Once again after much troubleshooting, it was a foolish fundamental error. All good now, installed, connected and looking forward to exploring the options.
