Install fail on pc 2x nic

Hey there ive tried everything.
My openwrt works fine on first boot and i login the luci on my gaming pc to configure. Everything works sqm blabla. But after 2nd time booting nothing works i cant login to web interface and the reset methods dont work correctly. I use pc i5 7400 12gb ddr4 120gb ssd a 750ti (no integrted gpu) and my mobo nic and an external nic.
I tried like 3 4 times on ext4.efi.img
I notice that openwrt only use 80mb partition and not everything of that

check if the network interfaces haven't been swapped, it happens.

this is normal.

I checked if they were swapped i changed the lan output and put in wan and wan in lan port to the switch and 2nd pc didnt work either.

ext4 based images can't support factory resetting, only squashfs images can

Just be aware that the discrete GPU will cost you 30-40 watts power consumption at idle, 24/7. Just removing that in favour of the CPU internal graphics should at least halve your power consumption (there would be even more potential for saving, even without the dGPU it will be around 25-30 watts idle; 3-6 watts is realistic with more suited hardware (j4xxx, n97/ n100/ n150).

After the initial flashing of OpenWrt, let the system settle for 3-4 minutes.

what changes were made between those two reboots ?

One time i enabled sqm and set mtu other times only password or updates for cpu and kmods

don't update any packages, ever, it might (soft) brick the router.

wrong MTU can kill the connection too.

sounds like self inflicted wounds, both of them.

Upgrading packages (via the CLI opkg upgrade/apk upgrade commands or the LuCI Upgrade... button) can result in major problems. It is generally highly discouraged, unless you know what you are doing or if there is specific instruction to do so.

Thanks i dont know much about openwrt. I will try without changing anything and enable sqm after 2nd boot maybe that will work. Its so incredibly good compared to our isp router.

Is an i219v and rtl 8168 good or is realtek causing the trouble? What do you use for your own openwrt system?

Would you recomment a squash then? I dont know every tutorial or ai recommended and ext4 efi img?

I have the gpu to around a bit. I tried many different os's now w installer... i uninstall it as soon as everything works.

Is it bad to poweroff the router? 24/7 is im my opninion extreme for a normal pc. I will shut it off as soon as i dont need it or go to sleep.

And yeah i know the pc is big and consumes like 25w i undervolted. A new small energy efficient pc is expensive. I will let my parents try the router and maybe i can convince them.

What are you using for ur openwrt system?

Realtek is usually heavier on the CPU, but intel is buggy (not the i219v specifically).

I run OpenWRT on my APs, not my main router.

For the hardware, no.
But these days a router is usually expected to be always on. It's needed for everything, including phones, often TV/ streaming, IoT/ smarthome, surveillance cameras, even you smartphones want to have WLAN.

For always-on devices, every watt counts - and (depending on your electricity costs) a new purpose-built router (including x86_64) can often pay for itself on the power bill within 6-18 months.

How to u shut down do i do in command line on router or just poweroff. Also sqm is now missing when i search in the web overlay, really need it.

haltworks, or just pull the plug.

What's web overlay ?

Luci 192.168.1.1
So should i install the sqm from it or is it gonna brick it?

Its working for the first time after 2nd boot.
Idk why but cant complain.

Even if halt works, I'd always strongly nudge towards using /sbin/poweroff, as halt isn't guaranteed to do what you want from it. Especially if you switch between UN*Xoid operating systems, you will encounter flavours that will just halt (and keep running) instead of actually powering off. poweroff however does what the name implies and tends to work everywhere (in the cases where it doesn't exist, no harm done, just use shutdown -P there).

GPU Name Intel® HD Graphics 630 :eyes:

At the wall, you are more likely using 40-50w with SQM and a dGPU on cpu lanes. With a terrible PSU, maybe even 60w.

Go buy a Flint2 with a 5.6w idle and 2x 2.5G:

For me its a little different. My parents said they dont care at all how much power my device consumes and i know x86 cpu consumes a lot comoared to the other. I measures under very low load like 20% in windows and the i5 7400 was pulling like 15-20 watts. I downgraded ram to 4g and the gpu is out. I already have an original intel i350 t2 nic. I think that this setup cant be beaten by any router but prove me wrong. I was thinking to buy an router for travel anyway, was looking at flint 3e. Its for sale 130€. And i guess it supports ap mode?

depends on what parameters you compare, but you're mostly wrong.

we have no idea, it's not supported here, ask gl.inet.
