Inquiry about OpenWrt support for Xiaomi AX3000 NE (Model: RD28)

Hello OpenWrt developers and community,

I am writing to inquire about the potential OpenWrt support for the Xiaomi AX3000 NE router. The specific model number on my device is RD28.

According to the official product specifications page here, the key hardware includes:

· A Qualcomm IPQ5018 chipset.
· 256MB of RAM and 128MB of flash storage.
· 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and support for Wi-Fi 6.

I have not found an official page for the RD28 model on the OpenWrt Table of Hardware yet.

Given that its hardware might share similarities with other supported Qualcomm-based routers, I wanted to ask:

  1. Is there any development effort currently underway to add support for the Xiaomi AX3000 NE (Model RD28)? If yes, is there a public branch or patch to follow?
  2. Based on the community's experience, is there any rough estimated timeline for when initial support might appear in a snapshot build?

I am eager to use OpenWrt on this router and would be happy to provide any further system information (boot logs, etc.) from the device if it would assist in the development process. Please let me know how I can help.
