I'm experiencing download speed issues

Hey everyone, my download speed is severely restricted when using a different DNS than my ISP's. I've set the LAN setting to 64; could this be the reason?

Does the sites you DL from have IPv6 addresses?

Yes, this setting exists. What should I do?

Understand and answer the question.

Yes, I have the IPv6 addresses of the sites from which I downloaded files.

Those are totally unrelated.
slow dns (like 200ms) would make pages load slowly, but linear bulk downloads go at wire speed.

The prefix length is irrelevant. You mention changing DNS, but don’t say what DNS you use. Theoretically, the new DNS might be sending you to different servers than your ISP DNS might, based on geo-location, ISP CDN/cache, etc. Do the DNS names of the download sites resolve to the same IP when using ISP DNS versus other DNS?

To me it looks like you are mostly experiencing self-caused config issues so far.

For weeks, you keep opening one after another thread that all tend to be like “I found a new exotic setting, how can i tune my OpenWRT device even more”. What are you trying to achive? It looks like you are just messing up a working config, for the sole purpose of magic Unicorn tuning.

Just stay with default config, the default config is there for a reason. Rather use the config and customization to add functionality as needed and adapt to your environment, not as performance fairy dust. Accept that mt7621 has its CPU limits. Be aware that your Internet service providers service limits cannot be outsmarted by local device settings.
