My WTR-M2133HS looks the same as my WTR-M2133HP, but I can't load the firmware onto it.
How do I do this?

then I guess they're not the same ?
but if you really want to go down that (possible soft brick) road, were you following - https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=commit;h=4a77a060ab6219f830390cd53c2817b621f39760 ?
The hardware looks the same, but it seems like I need to fix something.
But I don't have the skills to do it.
then it's officially unsupported.
I can't understand it even after looking at the source code.
Looks can be deceiving. Injection molds and tooling are expensive, so vendors like to reuse casings for different hardware, that it looks the same on the outside does not (at all) imply that the actual PCB inside is the same - and even if that were the case, there can (and often are) crucial software-side differences (bootloader, partitioning, etc.) as well.
So you're back to step one. Your device is not supported, no one knows what's inside and there's no one but you with this model on their desk, so the job to do hardware investigation and the necessary development is yours for the taking.
