Human Presence Detection with OpenWrt

I don't know exactly but it's at least ten years that I've read about people researching in using wifi for human presence detection in a room. While at first I thought about how this can be exploited in a bad way, now I would like to do it in a good way.

As I run air quality sensors I would like to combine that with the fact if a person is present. As my rooms are filled with access points I thought about if this was not actually possible for me to do? I'd love to have this kind of information from a router in my prometheus db but also in mqtt.

Has anyone tried something similiar already?

I have used the LD2410 to keep a light on in the room I am working in using an arduino microprocessor. Unlike PIR, the microwave detector senses minute movements.. breathing etc and maintains an on condition. They can be fooled however because although they are described as human presence, they do actually detect any movement with a heat source ie 3d printer.
