HP T730 compatibility

Hi all, I've search the forum but couldn't really find the answer I was looking for. So, the plan is to purchase HP T730 and install openwrt on it. Additionally, I am planning to add another nic to increase number of ports. As far as I understand, the ethernet chipset on the main board is Realtek and someone mentioned compatibility issues with pfsense (which I am not going to install).

Questions:

  1. Is Realtek chipset a deal breaker? why or why not?
  2. What nic I should purchase to expand number of ports?

Thank you all in advance!

Not for wired ethernet, for wifi, it could be.

Realtek, Broadcom, intel.

Broadcom are usually the cheapest, if looking for a multi port card.
