Hello. I'm thinking of getting an ASUS RT-AX53U and I would like to know if anyone could share their experience with it. I saw a couple of people complaining about having to reset the router every once in a while. I'm thinking it has something to do with this warning " Warning! Between versions 22.03.x and 23.05.x the WAN port was moved to a separate netcard out of the switch, so the old ethernet config is no longer valid and you need to reset the config in case of an upgrade. See https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/issues/14801".
It wasn't.
oh
so i should be good to go then?
Dunno about the frequent resets, the network change would have required exactly one of those.
I have 3 routers that I manage for friends/family for about 3 years.
I’ve been through all the 24.10 and 25.12 betas without issues.
It’s hard to get something better for the money, in some regions, that work so well with OpenWRT.
My only recommendation is to try and use WPA3 exclusively if possible, on both bands.
Should you have legacy devices then maybe try relegating them to the 2.4Ghz band where you can have both wpa2 and wpa3 available, and keep 5Ghz for wpa3 only clients.
Ohh ok. Thanks for the advice ![]()
