i used the mullvad wireguard guide to setup a fresh install of wrt and i connected to my home router with ethernet and it has worked great but now im at an airbnb rental and there is no router for me to plug into so i need to connect my wrt router as a travel router but im not sure how?
the goal is to be able to use my desktop pc with ethernet instead of this public wifi, if i can also turn on my own wifi with the vpn still working that would be great i will connect my phone and laptop to it instead of the insecure outdated public wifi here, thank you for any help
wifi -> scan -> join (the AirBnB's wifi).
put this new connection in the wan firewall zone.
(re)start wireguard after the connection's been established.
you're done.
there's also https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/wifiextenders/travelmate.
isn't really a thing nowadays, since (by default) DNS and web traffic are all encrypted.

thank you ill give it a shot in the morning when im fresh, that looks like what i tried but i dont think i ever reset the wireguard connection, when i tried it say IP error when i tried to connect to the new wifi, the router here is running wifi 4 with wpa security, thanks for the help
only issue you might run into is the upstream subnet, it can't be the same as the one on your openwrt device.
TLDR; your wan IP mustn't be 192.168.1.x.
