How to upgrade from snapshop to stable safely?

I am currently on a Dynalink DL-WRX36 using snapshot version, and would like to upgrade to stable. How can I do this without losing any data(packages, files in /root/*) and config?

  1. Create a custom image with the same list of packages.
  2. Copy the files you may need
  3. Backup the settings.
  4. Perform a sysupgrade keeping the settings.

That being said, snapshot runs on kernel 6.1 while stable runs on kernel 5.15. You may experience some trouble while keeping the settings for an older version. I have done such thing for other targets without issue, but I can't tell ipq807x/qualcommax. Can someone advice for this target?

Why not ask on the DL-WRX36 thread?

That said, I think for this target it's best to stay on Main snapshots, and just sysupgrade to a new one of those every few weeks. This way kernel 6.1 and the latest Ath11k drivers are included.
