How to test average household usage against my hardware

i know how to test the top end, using bufferbloat testing and speed testing, but the decision im after is for my average traffic,

with hardware flow offloading my bufferbloat is pretty bad, however we dont utilizze a fraction of what we pay for, (1000/35) i think we really use between 100-250 down and 10-15 up at any given time in our house. so i want to run a test of some sort that lets me put a stream of traffic between a few devices to see if theres any measurable performance loss,

i work from home so i am trying to find the happy medium between speed and latency for our household. i think i could just enable hardware flow offloading and leave it be because we are never hitting limits we shouldnt need sqm right?

What hardware do you have? If it is not fast enough to SQM at 1000 Mb try running SQM on the upload side only.

i have the flint 2 (gl-mt6000) which with hardware flow offloading can push well past the speeds i have.

it looks like i can enable software flow offloading and still use sqm on the upload wwhich seems to be my best results, not sure if thats optimal though
