How to install drivers from github repo to raspberry pi

I've been having issues getting my RTL8811au to work. i found some drivers that seem to work for other but on GitHub repos. how do I install them?

read How to add drivers for RTL8811cu to OpenWrt, and yes, it'll apply to your au device too.

or just use the search, and look for RTL8811au.

i found kmod-rtl8xxxu already available on openwrt. I installed but my adapter doesn't seem to work.

when i run ifconfig wlan1 up it gives me error: ifconfig: SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device

i think i'll give github repo a try but i didn't quite understand how to package the repo.

did you find a solution to this? I'm struggling to install drivers. is it just as easy as saying install then the name of the driver or do I need a link for the driver? I'm lost.
