I don't know what this forum software is called, and can't seem to find out. What is it?
And how do I get emailed when topics I'm subscribed to get a reply? Both the thread and my account preferences don't seem to have this specific setting.

Below your post you'll see a button saying 'Normal'. Click it and pick 'Watching', I think you get emailed then.
Your personal settings also allow you to define default behaviour for tracking topics.
Forum software is called Discourse btw.
