How to create a squashfs+(jffs2 or f2fs) image for x86

Hello,

I'm building an image for an APU.2E4 board. Since I plan to run openwrt from a sdcard I suppose it would make sense to build an image that includes squashfs and an overlay that uses a more flash friendly fs like f2fs or jffs2 instead of ext4. Unfortunately I don't have the slightest clue how to do that. Can you point me in the right direction?

And a related question, is it possible to create the image with a larger overlay filesystem to avoid that it'll be shrinked after a sysupgrade?
