The easy answer is semi-contemporary x86_64.
Is there a x86_64 box that integrates gigabit switch (6ports at least as one is for wan access) and good wifi6 ?
Not too expensive either...
yes
those two don't really compute.
Dell Edge E42W 620, Sophos 105w, 115w,125w, but they only got old AC wifi.
Qhora-301w, but it's crazy expensive.
Get a separate switch, they're 15€ ?
I have another computer in the same room that I am not using. Might be it will be enough for that.
But the problem is it might consume too much and does not have good wifi.
How much does a router like belkin or the one you pointed consume?
300w or 125 seems to much to have it all the day on.
May be the best solution is buy the zyxel t-56, use it now, as you say it has good wifi too, and if it arrives the need of 1Gbps add a rpi4 to do the routing and let the zytel to do just AP y switching...
T-56 power adapter is 12V/3A, pretty standard for a modern home router.
That is about36W (maxI much less than any computer box.
Thank you it is quite clear that a router like that would be my best bet.
Nah, an Intel N100 would use less, but it wouldn't have wifi.
Sames goes for the Banana Pi4 or the Openwrt One.
Thanks, may be I would need that gadgets if the need arises to have more cpu power and use the router just as AP and switch.
But if it provides 700 Mbps over wireguard, it would be more than enough for now.
