Usually you'd follow the cable that connects to the wan port -- what devices is on the other end of that cable?
Currently theres a lan cable from the Nokia modem to my openwrt router. Its in the "internet" port. Theres another cable from a lan port to my laptop.
Dont know if this helps?
ok... so the nokia modem is the upstream device.
What type of modem is it (cable/dsl/cellular/fiber)? What happens if you connect your computer directly to the modem?
Its a Nokia XS-010X-R (youll probably find a Nokia XS-010X-Q rather then the R version). Regarding my ISP this modem is properly registered and active now. But i wouldnt be surprised if they would've made a mistake again.
So it is a fiber ONT.
What happens if you connect it directly to your computer? Does your computer get online?
No, it doesn't. Even after putting my network adapter vlan id to 100. Tried this yesterday evening.
Your OpenWrt router is not likely the issue at this point.
You need to contact your ISP
- verify that they require VLAN 100
- ask them if DHCP is the required connection protocol (vs PPPoE or Static IP)
- if it is static or PPPoE, you will need more information from them so you can configure it appropraitely.
- ask them if the ONT "learns" the MAC address of the connected equipment, and if so, ask them how to clear that association so that it can learn the correct one (i.e. your OpenWrt router's MAC address).
- Ask them to verify that the ONT is connected and online -- they should be able to see if it is attached to their service properly or not.
Thanks for helping me troubleshoot. Ill report it back to my ISP and ill ask them these questions. Ill let you know what the outcome is.
So i just came of the phone with my ISP. They had loaded in the wrong configuration. Im gonna need to set up their modem again. After that they have to load in the correct config for my own modemso i can set that one back up again.
Told you i wouldnt be surprised if they made any mistakes on their side xD
