So I have just installed Openwrt 19.07.0 r10860-a3ffeb413b on my TL-WR841N v9 personal router that I use for WDS because the stock firmware had several issues. But how do I enable wds on this router?
This version of OpenWrt has been EOL and unsupported for half a decade now. It is not safe to use as it contains many security vulnerabilities. It is time to retire that device and get something that can run a modern and supported version of OpenWrt.
That said... here is the documentation for WDS:
Keep in mind that if the upstream wifi AP is not running OpenWrt, this probably will not work at all.
This is unrelated. You may have replied in the wrong thread.
Sorry, this looked like the right place
It was message for me.... Nothing you did wrong.
Your router is too old for modern OpenWrt. Only V13 still works.
Basically you connect AP as a client, then make sure interconnections in both ends have option wds 1 set, restart AP, client reconnects.
It is not interoperable with !openwrt (or different vendors)
When you create a new wireless interface you will have the option to select what type of wireless mode you want for that wireless interface. Go to Network menu then click on Wireless then Add a new wireless interface. In the general settings tab you will see WDS AP or WDS Client. A wds client can only talk to a wds AP. A common setup is to have the main router as a WDS AP and remote access points as WDS Clients in a hub and spoke model.
